Dawson moves to sixth in Ducati Trioptions Cup at Donnington Park.
Louis Dawson continued his run of improvement in the Ducati TriOptions Cup at WSB over the weekend with a 7th place in race 1 on Saturday and a 3rd place podium finish on the Sunday.
Dawson was cock-a-hoop with the podium finish, his first in the series. Louis said "I was lying in a solid fifth place in the lead group. We had moved away a bit from the following group behind and I would have been more than happy with that position. The podium was a massive bonus as a result of Sean Neary and Phil Atkinson going down at Goddards. To stand on the podium with Leon Morris and Rob Guiver was like a WSB podium for me!"
Sponsored by Ducati Wolverhampton, Dawson's progress in the Championship has not gone unoticed within the Ducati Paddock.
Tim Maccabee Managing Director of Ducati UK - "Hearty congratulations to Louis Dawson on his first podium in the TriOptions series. I have been watching Louis' progress in the Championship as he has gained experience and speed since joining the Chanpionship two years ago. It's a very competitive series with a high level of riding quality on display so it's pleasing to see one of the younger riders progressing well and starting to compete with the more established front-runners. Though in it's seventh year, the TriOptions series continues to develop and evolve but always seems to deliver interest and excitement."
Managed by John Davies of JDF Rider Development, a few changes have been made to Louis' approach within a race weekend. John Davies - "We are focusing a lot more on bike set up in Free Practise to feed into qualifying which is more important than the races in some ways. If you qualify outside the top ten you will struggle. The standard in this series is getting higher so you must qualify top seven to get a chance of decent points or podium"
Dawson has hiked himself to sixth place in the Champion just one point behind Robbie Brown.
