Shane Faber consolidates Nitro Newcomers lead.
At round four of the ThundersportsGB Aprilia Superteen Championship, Henstridge teenager Shane Faber extended his lead in the Nitro newcomers Championship, and maintained fifth place in the overall series for JDF-Racing.
Held on the picturesque but demanding Cadwell Park circuit the physical nature of the track is energy sapping for the teenagers. Despite only riding at the track for the first time two weeks earlier Faber was in good form and qualified in fifth place to demonstrate his run of top six qualifying positions is as a result of putting into practise what he has learned over the last 12 months. Shane Faber "We have a routine in JDF that works, so by following the routine it usually gets me where I need to be in qualifying, which is really important to be on the top two rows."
Taking all the silverware in the Newcomers races with four straight wins Faber takes a commanding lead of 147 points to round five at Oulton Park on 20/21st June. Team manager John Davies "We are very pleased with Shane’s progress within the Nitro Newcomers and the overall Championship. He has made a step forward and is able to regularly run top six. We need to make the next step however to podiums in the overall Superteen races. We think he is more than capable of achieving that."
Like a lot of youngsters coming through the ranks of Superteen riders Shane started out on the popular 50 and 70cc Metrakit machines at the FAB racing Championships held on the karts tracks where the riders learn to handle the little race bikes very quickly. Second in the Newcomers is West Country rider and buddy of Shane TJ Toms who also came through the Metrakit route into the Aprilia Superteen Championship.
Commentator Steve Day has noted Shane’s progression "I watched Shane through Hall bends. He was quick and smooth, given it is only his second visit to the track I was impressed with the way he handled it. He is also a very polite youngster which will put him in good stead for the future."
In addition to taking the top spot in the Newcomers element Faber again finished in the top six in each race of the four races over the weekend to maintain fifth place in the Championship.
