JDF-Racing's Ben Luxton Impresses Again at Anglesey.
Stockport teenager Ben Luxton showed that his Rockingham performances were not a one-off with back to back pole positions. Held on the now traditional Coastal track layout at this very picturesque location, Luxton repeated his qualifying form the previous round to take pole positions for the RRV 450 Challenge and JHS Supertwin series.
By lap seven of the 15 minute qualifying session Luxton was on provisional pole however on lap nine Bridgenorth rider Louis Dawson had moved on to the top spot with an impressive time of 1:12.479 with Luxton dropping back to fourth position. With the clock ticking away Luxton put in a lap of 1:12.228 to secure pole from Dawson, Luxton said "When I saw I was on pole on lap seven I relaxed a bit, then saw I had dropped to fourth with only four minutes to go. I thought I would try and get another two quick laps in. As it happened I had plenty of space and put a near perfect lap in as far as I was concerned and pulled it off. I was a bit surprised however when I crossed the line and saw it was under the lap record held by Cal Cooper. I am riding the same JDF RRV 450 Aprilia Cal was on last year so I was really pleased with that!"
On first raceday of Sunday he carried forward race form from Rockingham taking two second places behind back on form Ross Tywman and Championship leader David Allingham. Tyman also taking the lap record from 2013 Champion and JDF rider Callan Cooper.
On the final raceday of Bank Holiday Monday Luxton took the first RRV win of the day from Ross Tywman by just 0.281 with Louis Dawson just 0.339 behind the Canterbury rider. Finding himself down in fifth place at mid distance it did not look like Luxton was going to get to the top spot in this fiercly contested series. By the penultimate lap he had worked back to fourth spot and going into the left hand corner at the end of the straight, Allingham out-braked himself allowing Luxton to dive underneath Tywman and Dawson to take the lead down to the corkscrew. Luxton "I felt I could do well in the race however I did not have the best start and had to push on as if you drop off the back of these boys you have to break the lap record to get back in the hunt. Once I got in the front on the last lap at Rocket hairpin I knew they would struggle to get past coming down the corkscrew so I just went for it and thought if you are going to get past lads, you are going to have to work real hard for it!"
In the final RRV race Luxton finished third behind Dawson and 2013 RRV Champion David Allingham.
